Director mode hanging without abort option

When trying to use director mode, after hitting go, nothing happens. It sits there with a turning circle and no activity on anything and no abort button, status tracker, or warning or notice of an issue (including nothing in the console). Not even sure if I did something wrong or if there was a bug as there was literally no feedback of any kind. Had to close Maestro entirely as it basically locked the program.
