Phosphene 4.17 - honest times, faces that survive, and films you can fix

Update: press Update in Pinokio, then restart Phosphene. Nothing new to download.

We used every flow in Phosphene the way you do - on small and big Macs, at laptop and desktop window sizes - and wrote down every place it lied, lost work or made you hunt. That was 222 things. 4.17 fixes them. (4.17.1, out now too, keeps the clip toolbar tidy on laptop-sized windows.)

Times you can trust

Estimates are for YOUR Mac now: a range per quality, from real renders on Macs like yours, and it corrects itself from your own finished renders. A 16 GB Air no longer sees our fastest Mac's "~3 min".
Start & end frame, Extend, Lip-sync and One Shot show real prices before you press Generate.
No silent downgrades: 16:9 stays 16:9 on Macs under 48 GB, and every size chip shows the size you actually get.

Faces survive

Phone photos come in the right way up, HEIC works, and portrait photos stay portrait - with a crop you can drag so the face is never cut off.

Lip-sync is a Video mode

Drop a voice or a song and a face. The length follows your audio, a 3 s draft checks the mouth first, and Continue the song picks up where the last clip ends. On smaller Macs, Split into clips renders a long song as a chain.

Nothing lost to one click

Stop is greyed out when idle and asks before ending a long render; Clear queue and Hide have Undo; One Shot keeps its finished parts (Resume, or Join what's done).
New take on every clip, Retake a moment to redo just a stretch, and Retry smaller that really renders smaller.

Films you can fix

Editor: Sync to song, Match colour across the film (plus exposure / warmth / tint per clip), slip and roll edits, Replace, take history. Renders are versions you can cancel, never overwrites.
Storyboard: "Rewrite N shots" rewrites them all, reordering keeps clips on the right shot, and re-planning keeps your old cut as a draft.
