Absolutely. Pinokio is optional. It’s really just there as a convenient way to install Orange and, if you want, a managed copy of ComfyUI alongside it.
I actually use ComfyUI through Stability Matrix myself. In that setup, Orange can just run separately and point at your existing Stability Matrix ComfyUI instance. That means ComfyUI keeps using the same models and shared model folders you already have configured in Stability Matrix. Orange is basically just the frontend talking to ComfyUI over its API.
If you don’t want to use Pinokio at all, you can clone Orange directly from GitHub and run run.bat on Windows. It’ll create its own Python environment for Orange, then you can point it at the ComfyUI instance managed by Stability Matrix.
I do agree that having Orange installable directly through Stability Matrix would be a really nice fit. I haven’t looked into what their process is for adding third-party apps yet, but it’s something I’d be interested in exploring. If they’re open to it, I’d definitely take you up on the testing offer.
And thanks, I really appreciate the kind words and the feedback.
